McDonald’s recently tested Bluetooth beacon-based which offered few of its location as its pilot beacon platform “Piper” that is operated on both IOS with ibeacon app and on android with Beacon simulator. Pilot Beacon platform Piper’s developer announced that they have tested its beacon platform in McDonald’s in Columbus, Georgia. They were pushing a deal to their customer to download their mobile application that provided different offers based on users location.

After a four-week test Piper’s developer calculated the result in the sale of McDonald’s. The results clearly showed them the way to the success of their beacon app development. McDonald provided the best of their offers to the users and increased their sale in those four weeks. Piper’s developers shared their experience, 18,000 offers were redeemed by the users and the sale of McChicken was increased 10 percent and the sale of McNuggets was increased by 8 percent in comparison with previous days.

Piper is a company which is running a beacon network in many other companies that sell both hardware as well as software ideas and solutions to the businesses who are looking further to deploy Bluetooth based technology for transmitting location based offers.

McDonald was the first food business company who tested and deployed Bluetooth beacon devices to send proximity based offers and notifications to the users who passes by a beacon. After McDonald, many other retailer stores were found in a survey using beacon devices and offering users the best experience of shopping. Around 100,000 beacons devices were installed in 90 percent of stores.

Fast food franchises are using a better way for payment. Nowadays NFC-based payment is in use which also a part of Beacon.

Most of the beacon business are using them and experiencing a good increase of app usage. The increase in beacon app usage means an increase in sale. As McDonald experienced approximately 30x increased orders in comparison with previous years. Customers are getting their order easily nowadays and on preferred period of time.
